MINC THINKS we should spend some time with Fashion Central!

PhotobucketWe had a chance to sit down with Fashion Central Magazine (fashioncentralmagazine.com), the hottest new Ezine for Fashionistas around the globe. Based in the UK, this magazine not only has amazing features and photos, it also serves as an online community for designersto mix and mingle. Learn more about what Fashion Central has to offer.

An interview with Sarah Jane, Editor of Fashion Central

What gave you the idea to start Fashion Central?  Upon joining Myspace, I was quickly inundated with friend requests from various clothing/jewellery sellers. I soon got frustrated with checking them all out individualy, and it occured to me that with so many sellers utiltising the site in this way, there ought to be a central area where they could commune, network, and where visitors could browse their goods more conveniently. Hence Fashion Central was born, and word spread so rapidly that we were soon achieveing thousands of hits a week, and it was out of this demand that Fashion Central magazine was launched.

What is the purpose of Fashion Central?  Fashion Central is really a fashion family at heart. It’s about having a place to talk to like minded people, get advice on different areas of the industry, and to offer exposure for independant fashion talent that they are unable to generate for themselves. Of course, now that we have the online magazine, and online shop to launch soon, this is multiplied, with us now being able to showcase fantastic photography and goods that readers may not have come across themselves.

What does the magazine consist of?  Each issue of Fashion Central magazine is set to a different theme, around which all the content, such as trend spreads, photography etc are based. For instance, the current edition is the Trashionista issue, featuring hot properties Audrey Kitching and Mosh, and covers nu rave, fetish, and electro. This means that we can represent diverse styles with each new issue, and hopefully offer something for everyone.

How often does the magazine come out?  The magazine goes live on the first of each month, and is always completely free to read at fashioncentralmagazine.com

Where do you see Fashion Central in 5 years?  Fashion Central has grown so quickly that it’s hard to predict what heights it will reach… 2008 sees lots of plans for the brand, with two new websites set to launch during the Spring, which look set to take us to a whole new level. Hopefully in five years time I’ll be able to have a day off!

Last but  not least, what is your fashion must-have for this season?  Personally, I’m pretty obsessed with brown and gold, so I’ve just invested in some metallic uggs… I love wearing a dress over jeans with some great boots, so winter is a great time for my wardrobe!

A note from the designer:

“I have always loved fashion and has an obbession for acccessories (costum jewelry of course but I have also enjoyed creating my own style and standing out).  A few years ago I started creating beaded jewelry and sure enough, before I knew it, my hobby turned into a business.  At first I was just catering to my friends and family, then to co-workers and their friends.  I am so happy that three years later I have expanded my network of customers through shows and word of mouth! It has been a busy, but wonderful expirience!  If you like to be unique but still be fashionable, I encourage you to check out my site! Send me a message and let me know what you think!

MINK THINKS it is time for some Hanky Tanky!

Photobucket

Ok ladies, how many of you have piles of tanks lying around your closet? We typically string 16 of them over a single hanger, creating a large bulk in our wardrobe. Not cool, especially if closet space is of the essence. That’s why we need some Hanky Tanky! This product is brilliant. It is literally multiple tank hangers in one which will save you tons of space. We are loving the ladybug design. It’s darling! Check out Hanky Tanky at www.hanky-tanky.com.

A note from the photographer:

“One very early morning when Craig McKenzie was 15, his father woke him, saying ” Anitas bar is burning…You should go take some photos” and he did. These photos landed him a job at the local weekly newspaper. He worked there until he moved away for college. After a very long sabbatical, he has returned to his love of photography and dedicated this past year to learning the ins and outs of digital imaging and its place within the realm of fashion photography.
